Germany had just bet the house on taking Stalingrad. It was certain to be the death knell of the Soviet Union. Instead, Germany found itself in a war of attrition with the Soviet Union.

The US had bet the house on destroying its and Israel’s major obstacle to hegemony in West Asia/Middle East. And its ‘Shock and Awe’ attack on Iran has failed. The much feared war of attrition that the US and Israel have never fared well at, is upon them.
US Victory Against Iran Is Nowhere Near Certain
The US destroyed North and South Korea, which were never meant to be separate. The divide was a pure US geopolitical goal to ultimately encircle China. Instead. the best it could do against the grossly inferior Korean and Chinese People’s Liberation Army was a draw.
Next try was Vietnam. Up to 500,000 US troops on the ground. Massive bombing campaign against Vietnam, which had been devastated by years of French colonialism and Japanese occupation. The result was a humiliating ejection from Vietnam.
Iraq: The US has invaded Iraq twice both based on lies. At least a million dead, half a million Iraqi babies starved or dead from disease due to US ruin of Iraq’s water treatment facilities and blocking food and medicine. Yet, Iraq while still partially occupied by the US continues to be a thorn in the side
Afghanistan: 20 years of meddling and invasion. Ejected by the Taliban
US attempts to either subvert Russia and China, or take them down through internal support of US backed terrorist, have failed
The US did succeed against tiny countries like Grenada, Libya, Haiti, Syria and it staged coups in Honduras, and especially in Ukraine. Among others.
North Korea and North Vietnam had significant help from the USSR.
But even a small country, Afghanistan and Iraq, were not easy.
Now, Iran has backing of Russia and China, both of whom see an attack on Iran as a direct threat against them.
