This is a semi accurate film about the Zen Master Dogen Zenji. As a young man, he went to China, where Zen Buddhism was flourishing around the year 1200. I found this in an old USB thumb drive and as a trained Zen monk, it has meaning for me, although maybe not for readers of my substack.
We live in very turbulent times, perhaps fateful dangerous and confusing times. So this movie, which is slow paced and completely different from the typical Hollywood movie, may be a respite.
Nowadays, people are so bombarded by the media, that this movie is an antidote to the usual fare.
