Ignorance is Not Bliss

In the summer of 2022, I stayed at a Yoga Resort. It was run by Israelis on one of Thailand paradisical islands. People from many countries were there. It’s Vegan, so I guess that means that people there are more enlightened than non vegans.

Anyway, one young Israel and I got into a bit of discussion. I maintained that we must know Truth. He asserted that he did not want to know the Truth, because the truth is painful. He preferred blissful ignorance. Except that he doesn’t understand that ignorance leads to unreality, and Reality always bats last.

So here we are. Israel just got a visit from several hundred Iranian missiles. It reminded me of two old songs.

One, from 1967. “Pride of Man” by an obscure San Francisco band, Quicksilver Messenger Service. The lyrics and their meaning is self evident.

The other song is from before the founding of Israel, back when sanity was still around. “Oh You Foolish Little Zionists”.

“Oh you foolish little Zionists, you want to take us to Jerusalem where we can die as a nation. We’d rather stay in the Diasora, and fight for our Liberation.’

When I went to Camp Tevya, a Zionist summer camp, as a child, they didn’t teach us this song. Hardly a surprise why. And most of those I know from my generation still believe the Zionist narrative.

So, let’s back up a bit. Israel considers Iran its main enemy. For years, it has been assassinating Iranian scientists, high ranking government officials, using cyberattacks, and recently it attacked the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria, killing several diplomats—a total violation of international law.

Of course, Palestinians, those ‘human animals” whom most Israelis consider to be sub human, have needed to be gotten rid of, according to what they hear. The Big Man In the Sky ordering them to kill, exile or enslave (if they’re ‘lucky’ and willing to be subjugated). It has not occurred to them that The Big Guy is a figment of their egotistical narcissistic imagination.

October 7, 2023 was the consequence of 75 years of killing, torture, and forced expulsion (euphemistically called ‘ethnic cleansing’) treatment of the Palestinians. Israel is offended. It’s like, the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto being accused of terrorism when they fought against the Nazis.

It’s getting worse and worse, with Hezbollah in Lebanon standing up to Israel, as well as the Yemeni Resistance. Israel of course ‘has to defend itself’ against those who resist. It’s well known that Israel has had its sights fixed on getting control of Lebanon’s water and even land, as I noted in my post yesterday….A Brooklyn, NY rabbi informs us that “Hashem”, or as it’s spelled in English “G-D”, in the Bible, orders that the Land of Israel is not confined to just the historical map of Palestine, but also, Lebanon, as well as parts of Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq—as if they’d be satisfied with Greater Israel.

So now Iran, after warning Israel that it would respond to the recent assassination of a high ranking Palestinian foreign guest, finally has launched several hundred missiles, doing significant damage.

And Israel is Shocked! It’s a declaration of war (Which Israel has been begging, praying for and provoking for years. ) What is their thought process?

Oh, those foolish little zionists, with their not just Utopian but Suicidal mentality appear to be getting their war. And those Hippies will probably be proven right. “Oh God, pride of man, broken in the dust again.

Driven by the profound willful ignorace that they are Chosen, when they are no more Chosen than any other humans. They forgot a very simple directive from the Prophet Micah.

“All the Lord requires of you, is to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God”.

It’s really pathetic and sad, how far off track a whole people can go. Unfortunately, they’re not the only ones caught in their own arrogance and delusion.

And the trajectory we’re on?

Several commentators note that Israel’s pride and obsession with domination masked by its assumption of victimhood, could result in a series of escalations, culminating in Israel’s use of nuclear weapons. Are they crazy enough to do that? It has already threatened retaliation for Iran’s strike, and Iran has already warned Israel that an even more powerful missile attack will result in response to Israel.
