Actually, it lacks people in power to create the laws which support such brilliant schemes. I think the homeless people who were freezing to death in cardboard boxes sense the urgency.
Correct. The lock on the narrative, plus huge monied oligarchs are the last thing they want, an empowered citizenry. Maybe when the Empire is knocked down a few pegs, such change may be possible.
I call this the War on Consciousness. The 'real owners' have succeeded in demobilizing the people with decades of lies, consumerism and distraction. So only stark reality of their actual situation will motivate enough of them to do something.

My mother had 800-1200 a month, plus 800-900 my grandfather's pension (while alive), and the monthly rent was 64-94, paid to the owner, under „socialist yoke”. (Now I pay over 100% of my monthly income for rent, in the Free World, and M. le moin makes a big deal of his fellow citizens paying a mere 50%!)
I'm also thrilled to hear we were not the only ones to „give away” the apartments to citizenry for „symbolic prices”: the „criminal” way the exiting „communists” were undermining the future „vibrant” housing „market”! Our own f-ing free media never told us we took after USSR here ...
But the revolutionary USAns are only interested in the glorious USSR! I'm yet to find one interested in any of the „sisterly socialist countries” (Never mind that the masses DON'T WANT SOCIALISM - ASSUMING THEY KNOW WHAT THEY WANT, WHICH THEY DON'T! - they settle for democracy and prosperity and the rule of Law! And they've got them - BIG TIME!)
At least the girl is beautiful, presumably no „plastic” in her. And westernized enough to flirt with the idiotic „to be honest”! YES, BE HONEST, YOUNG LADY!
